broken rubber torn

sorry for bad quality, taken with my cell phone.

This was broken in mums car, and as it is a Volkswagen golf country/syncro, you would need to screw off a plate to get the rubber off(note, right rear)
soo.. i cut it off, the old rubbery thing(correct me, what is the right name?) leaving one cm of the old around the drive shaft, cleaning it, gluing on the new one and voilá, it works, you probably didn't understand anything what i explained sorry
